FCTV with its Partner Living Earth Foundation, UK in Douala slums to understand the mechanisms and systems in place to manage waste

Under the framework of the project ‘Improved Conditions in Urban Slums: public private partnerships in Cameroon‘ which aims of promoting public-private partnerships between local councils and community based organisations and small-micro enterprises working in the field of waste management and the urban environment fits well within the context of the decentralization process which has recently started in Cameroon, FCTV together with its LEF partners are carried out field visits between 11th and 14th October 2010 and between 30th and 31st October 2010.

The purpose of this baseline survey was to identify the key actors in the target areas, assess the socio-economic and political contexts of the target areas, identify the mechanisms and systems already in place to manage urban waste in Douala.

Findings from this survey are available upon request to FCTV, here
